Member of the Quebec, Ontario, and New York Bars, Louis Sévéno has been practicing since 2004 in the fields of civil and commercial litigation. He also practiced in business law and acted as legal counsel for a federal inquiry commission. He has a particular expertise in matters of corporate law, manufacturers’ liability, disputes between shareholders, labour law, and transportation law. He has pleaded before first instance tribunals and the Federal Court as well as several administrative tribunals.


Various files involving disputes between shareholders of private corporations, including namely :

Oppression remedies;

Forced sale or purchase of shares;

Declaration of disqualification to act as a director, and

Embezzlement or fraud.


Various disputes involving :

Commercial leases;

Construction law;

Billing practices and reception of a payment not due;

The delivery of goods, and

Manufacturers’ warranty.


Assisting a debtor corporation in a contested proposal in bankruptcy process; requests for asset sales.

Negotiating payment time extension arrangements between creditors and debtors.

Various mandates of evaluating secured claims on behalf of bankruptcy trustees.

Various employment law files (individual reports), involving :

Wrongful dismissal and evaluation of severance pay;

Negotiation of severance agreements;

Allegations of harassment or discrimination, and

Application of covenants (non-solicitation, non-competition and confidentiality).


Secured a provisional injunction order and an order of protection for non-solicitation of clients.

Execution of an Anton Piller type injunction and seizure of pirated material.

Defence of a provisional injunction to prohibit the execution of guarantees.
